Weight loss has always been a hot topic issue but in the day and age we live in it's become much more than just an "issue", a necessity for the constantly rising number of overweight individuals in our society.
Some of you might be reading this and saying to yourself why is he stating the obvious and repeating what nearly every weight loss commercial has said for the past 5 to 10 years? Isn't he going to help? Of course I am. But I'm not going to make bold claims of rapid weight loss or being able to eat all you want. You will need to alter your lifestyle but after reading this article you'll be well on your way to a healthier, slimmer you and most importantly it will be so easy you'll wonder why you weren't doing this all along.
1. Get up and off of your couch and get active. I know it's not what you wanted to hear but it is the single most important aspect of a weight loss plan. Get active doesn't mean that you have to start running marathons or lifting ridiculous amounts of weights, it simply means that you must do an activity that will increase the speed of your metabolism in order for your body to create a caloric deficit. Did you know something as simple as a brisk walk can burn nearly 500 calories if done for an hour? See what I'm trying to show you is that you don't have to be an elite athlete you just have to pick an activity that you like because then and only then will you continue to do it!
2. I touched on this in the first tip but now I will elaborate. Create a caloric deficit! I know some of you might be sitting there and asking yourself, what exactly does that mean? It simply means that you must burn more calories then you are putting into your body. I know many of you already know this but I bet most of our society doesn't know how to achieve it. The simplest way is to use a proven mathematical formula. If you are looking for a moderate weight loss you would multiply your current bodyweight by 12 and that would give you your daily caloric requirements.
If your body is ultra resistant you can go as low as 10 times your bodyweight. The second method and the one I recommend is to find your daily caloric value by eating a certain amount of calories each week and finding the number where you don't gain or lose any weight and deduct 500 calories from that number. Whether you use exercise, diet or both to create the deficit is up to you but it must be done in order for you to lose weight!
In addition to the two tips in this article you should try to drink as close to a gallon of water a day as you can and try to stop eating two to three hours before you go to sleep. If you adhere to the tips in this article, you will undoubtedly be on your way to your ideal weight.

Whether you want to lose body fat to compete in an athletic event, improve sports performance, improve your health, or simply look better in summer clothes, losing body fat is a long term proposition, and quick weight loss plans are not going to get you those results.
While some fat is lost on any lower calorie diet, "crash" diets or low-energy diets of less than 800 Calories per day produce a greater loss of muscle and water than diets that are moderately reduced in calories. So, on crash diets, each pound of weight loss contains more lean tissue and less body fat than a diet that produces moderate weight loss (1/2-2 pounds a week). You're losing more muscle than fat!
Crash dieting slows you down. If you don't eat enough food to fuel your body just to survive (basal metabolic rate), your body's metabolism slows down to make up for it. Your body's additional need for energy to fuel physical activity (resting metabolic rate) slows even further when your body lacks fuel. The result is that the body conserves energy and burns fat at a slower rate when crash diets are used.
Long Term Effects
The loss of lean tissue and the slowdown of the body's metabolic rate during prolonged crash dieting make it harder for people to maintain the weight they lost because now the body needs fewer calories because they are smaller and fatter than before! And, when body weight is re-gained, it is typically fat that replaces the lost muscle mass. One can certainly see that the result of this vicious cycle of lost lean tissue - reduced energy needs - body fat gain is long term weight problems and endless dieting.
Patience pays off over quick weight loss when it comes to losing body fat for several reasons:
Reducing calories gradually preserves your hard earned muscle and gives you the energy you need to burn even more fat.
You'll preserve your body's ability to process oxygen to help burn fat for fuel.
You'll maintain strength and stamina when you lose body fat at a moderate pace.
You'll have a much better chance of getting the nutrients you need when you eat more food and choose wisely instead of depriving your body of the nutrition it needs for good health.
Healthy, well-nourished bodies look better, so you will achieve your goal after all, when you take it slow. For those of you who are following your Personal Weight Loss Plan (Personal Diet Plan), your energy needs were calculated to maximize your loss of fat and preserve your lean tissue. Adding physical activity to your program at the proper level for your needs will enhance the process!

10 Steps for Weight Loss

1) Calculate how many calories you body needs to consume to maintain your existing weight. This is called you maintenance calories.(Search google with "calorie needs" and you will find a few different calculators to help you with this)
2) Initially deduct 10%(to a maximum of 500Kcal)off the total maintenance calories. Drastically reducing your calories will result in muscle and water loss - not fat loss.
3)Divide you calories over 5 or 6 meals rather then 2 or 3. You should aim to eat every 3-4 hours.
4)Cut out all simple carbohydrates (except straight after exercise, eat whole grain, high fibre foods.)
5) Exercise at least 3 times a week, doing 30 minutes of cardio to a reasonable level of intensity. This will help to create the calorie defecit and encourage your body to lose fat.
6)Make simple replacements in your diet, Sweetner in place of sugar, diet drinks in place of full sugar drinks, use leaner cuts of meat etc. At first these changes may be difficult but you will get used to them and make vital calorie savings every day.
7) Drink plenty of water - at least 2 litres of water every day - if you are dehydrated you body will be less efficient and will make fat loss more difficult.
8) Try to eat low carb(complex only!), low fat and moderate protein. From my experience the South Beach Diet is excellent.
9)Keep a food diary to monitor how many calories you are consuming - it is very easy to over eat.
10) Supplementing you diet can make fat loss easier. A diet high in protein can help preserve muscle (more muscle means an increase in metabolism). There are also some fat loss supplements available which help boost your metabolism, this is useful as your metabolism may slow during extended periods of dieting.
This article is written from my own experiences. I have lost 20lbs of fat and gained 20lbs of muscle. My body fat is 11%. Please consult a doctor for proper medical advice

Could this be possible? Yes it is but that is solely dependant on what you consider a "diet". When most of us hear the word diet we begin to think of rice cakes, lettuce and an overall deprivation of the foods we like. If this is your definition of diet, you'll be happy to know that you can lose the weight and continue to eat the foods you enjoy.
Why do diets fail? Diets fail because they are often too drastic a change from our daily routines. If for the majority of your life, you're used to doing things in a certain manner and all of a sudden you're told to change that, it often results in shock. Don't get me wrong, many people have been successful at traditional dieting but the vast majority tends to fail. When most individuals start a diet they tend to be energetic and committed to success but as time passes they find themselves missing too many of the foods they enjoyed to be able to stick to their diet in the long run. Well I have a simple solution to this problem that plagues the vast majority of dieters.
"Change the ingredients not the menu!" Yes you read that correctly. The majority of what most of us eat can be fine tuned and converted from an unhealthy choice into a nutritious meal. There are healthy choices for almost any meal you can think of and many people can't even notice the difference.
The first replacement rule to live by is if it's not brown then put it down. What that means is if it's a food that still isn't in its natural state, don't eat it. Brown rice, whole wheat bread and whole wheat pasta are much better choices then the white versions of those same foods.
The second rule to live by is to always get the highest quality meat you can afford. It's been said that the better the meat the leaner it is. Instead of getting normal ground beef and chicken thighs, purchase extra lean ground beef and chicken breast. By cutting down on the fat you'll be saving yourself from a lot of extra calories in your diet.
Let's take these new tips for a test run. Almost everyone loves hamburgers, spaghetti and pizza. You're probably telling yourself that there's no possible way you can lose weight while enjoying these foods. Well there is! When converting an unhealthy choice to a healthy one the first thing you must consider is what makes this a poor nutritional choice? Let's examine our three entrees. Well most hamburgers are made with white burger buns and high fat ground beef! By simply switching to a whole wheat bun and extra lean ground beef you've now created a healthier choice. When most people cook spaghetti they tend to use white pasta and again a fatter ground beef. Once again change the pasta to whole wheat pasta and the meat to a leaner ground beef or if you're really adventurous you could try a tofu replacement. Pizza is usually made with white flour dough and a high fat mozzarella cheese. Make your dough with whole wheat flour and a low fat cheese and you've created a healthy pizza that you can enjoy (in moderation) while you lose weight.
By now you should realize that it's not what food we eat but rather how we prepare that food that determines whether it's a healthy choice or not. Try using these tips with some of your favorite recipes and watch the pounds come off.

Using Herbs for Weight Loss

In this world of extreme makeovers and desperate diets, there are two definitive actions that bring about effective long-term weight loss—(1) a high nutrition and high protein, low calorie meal plan and (2) consistent, regular exercise routine. Forget about magic pills that melt the fat away or sauna wraps that steam away inches. There are, however, herbs for weight loss that can supplement—not replace— healthy eating and exercise. These herbs can help increase the body’s digestive and metabolic efficiency and make easier the process of long-term health and weight management.
The principle behind weight loss is that energy intake must not exceed energy expenditure. What you eat must have fewer calories than what you put out in day to day activities. A body composed of lean muscle (built from protein and exercise) will use more calories than an unexercised body. There is every reason to maintain a solid exercise regimen and high protein consumption because you need both to turn your body into a fat-burning machine.
Some herbs that can help weight loss and make this process more efficient are Green Tea, Flaxseeds, Psyllium and Chromium.
Green Tea is not only a powerful anti-oxidant but a fat-burner as well. According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (January 2005), consuming green tea rich in catechins leads to a lowering of both body fat and cholesterol. These compounds enhance nervous system activity at the level of the fat cell, causing it to release more fat. In another recent study, one group of subjects was given green tea extract (with 150 mg of caffeine) and 375 mg of catechins three times a day.
A second group was given just 150 mg of caffeine alone and a third group was given a placebo. These subjects spent three 24 hour periods in an energy chamber during which they received their green tea, caffeine or placebo 3 times a day. Results show definitely that the green tea group burned the most energy—by almost 5 percent more when compared with those who received the placebo alone and 3.2 percent more than those who received the caffeine alone. In addition, fat burning was increased in the green tea group.
Researchers speculate that a special antioxidant compound in green tea called EEG may trigger fat oxidation and thermogenesis (fat burning). What is also interesting is that the maximum fat-dissolving capacity of green tea comes from the tea in concentrate form, which provides the benefits of 5-6 cups of tea in a single dose of tea powder. Green tea is an herb that has demonstrated effectiveness in encouraging weight loss.
Flaxseeds provide essential fatty acids which are building blocks the body uses to make fats. The body must get various kinds of fats ( fish oil, flaxseeds oil) not only to ensure proper health but to stabilize blood sugar level. Stabilized blood sugar means stabilized appetite. Unusual hunger and food cravings develop in people who do not consume sufficient essential fats. These people often turn to a high consumption of carbphydrates ( bagels, donuts, chips) because their bodies are on a frantic search for the missing nutrient—essential fats. Moreover, the body has an intelligence of its own; when it is deprived of fats, the body will lower its metabolic rate, store fat as well as make fat. A body deprived of essential fats will turn into a fat-producing machine. Flaxseeds are therefore another form of herbal tools for weight loss.
Psyllium is a soluble fiber that comes from the small reddish black seeds of the “Plantago Psyllium” plant. Psyllium seeds not only help ease constipation, they are effective in lowering cholesterol and promoting weight loss when used in conjunction with exercise and healthy eating. Psyllium helps stabilize sugar in the blood which also controls food cravings. The bulk in psyllium adds to the sensation of fullness and satiety when it is taken in its recommended dose:1-3 tsp of powdered psyllium dissolved in water taken 3 times a day before meals. In a British study, women who took psyllium with water 3 hours before a meal consumed less fat and fewer calories during the meal.
Chromium is a trace mineral found in whole grains, potatoes, prunes, nuts and brewer’s yeast. It seems to help the body use insulin more effeciently so that normal blood sugar levels are maintained. Chromium also helps the body break down protein and fat. In a recent study, people consuming 400mcg of chromium picolinate a day lost 6 pounds over 3 months while another group receiving a placebo lost only 3 pounds. The most significant aspect of the study was that the weight lost by those taking the herbal supplement chromium was in the form of body fat, not muscle.
While all four herbs have demonstrated that they can help promote weight loss, they are by no means magic pills and should be taken in conjunction with a solid nutrition and exercise program.

Metabolism and Weight Loss

Our metabolic rate determines the rate at which we ‘burn up’ our food, and by increasing this rate, we can lose weight more quickly, easily, and safely.
When we diet, by decreasing our calorie intake too drastically, we cause our metabolism to slow down, making it progressively more difficult for us to lose weight. Most diets fail, yet we continue to try one after another, always hoping that each new regime will provide the ‘magic’ solution. If this sounds like your problem, there may be a simple answer. Let’s look at why most diets fail, and how strength training, combined with a healthy food intake can speed up your metabolism, making it easy for you to lose weight.
By drastically cutting our food intake, our body’s natural instinct is to switch to a ‘starvation response.' The fewer calories we consume, the more our bodies become efficient at using these calories - leading to slower weight loss. This was once a useful mechanism for our ancestors when food supplies were less predictable, but this ’vicious circle’ can make life almost impossible for the modern dieter.
When the body is persistently kept short of calories, it breaks down muscle tissue to use as fuel. Our body, using water from our tissue cells, quickly washes this away causing an instant reduction in weight through water loss. However, this weight loss will be short lived, and will quickly be regained when we take in water and the muscle we have lost will slow down our metabolism in the long term.
The reason for this is that each pound of muscle requires a certain number of calories each day just to maintain it. Therefore, the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn even when you’re doing nothing, even sleeping! If you lose muscle, then your daily calorie requirement becomes less. For example, imagine a dieter loses 10 pounds of muscle (along with maybe 20 lbs. of fat) on a strict diet. Now suppose that each pound of muscle had been burning 50 calories a day. Together, those 10 pounds of muscle had been burning 500 calories a day. With this muscle tissue gone, the dieter must now consume 500 less calories a day in order to maintain that weight-loss!
However, of course people do not stick to their diets for ever and when they return to their old eating habits, the weight that they have lost, invariably comes piling back on. Unfortunately, whilst they lost both muscle and fat during the diet, all the weight they regained was fat. So, even though they may weigh the same as they did when they started, they now have a lot more fat and a lot less muscle than they did before the diet. Therefore, their metabolism is slower and their calorie requirements are less. Even if they return to their pre-diet eating habits, they still require 500 fewer calories a day due to the muscle loss. That’s one reason dieters are prone to regaining all of the lost weight, and conversely sometimes even gain weight afterwards.
A good solution is an active lifestyle that includes aerobic exercise, a good weight-training program, and a healthy diet containing fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain cereals and plenty of lean protein. It is a good idea to eat ‘little and often’ – keeping your metabolism in high gear by eating 4 to 6 small meals a day, rather than one or two larger ones. No food is forbidden, but sweets and high fat junk food are eaten less often, and in smaller quantities. A healthy diet is a realistic and permanent way of eating – not a diet that you suffer through for a week or two and then give up!
The goal is to consume as many calories as you can, while still losing body fat and maintaining or adding lean muscle at the same time. If your calories are already below normal, don’t restrict them further. Instead, maintain your current amount and instead try to become stronger and more active, so you can gradually increase your calories to a normal healthy level. If your calorie intake is already in a healthy range, decrease it only slightly, if necessary. A small reduction of about 250 calories a day, or 10-15 percent less than usual, is more likely to protect your lean muscle, and less likely to trigger a go-slow in your metabolism.
If you follow this type of routine, it’s possible to gain about one pound of muscle per week and lose about one pound of fat per week. The end result is that the number on the scale might not move much at all, it may even go up. Your clothes will feel looser, and you’ll feel great. Yet the numbers on the scale won't move!! It's at this point that a lot of people give up the weight training because they don't understand what's happening.
The truth is that when you're strength training it's possible to get smaller and heavier at the same time, as muscle is a much denser tissue than fat. The fat takes up more space on your body. At this point, it's best to ignore the bathroom scales and rely on the way you look and the way your clothes fit.
The conventional way of dieting can lead to a weak, tired body, exhausted by the constant cycle of starvation and weight gain, unable to enjoy food. However, by following these easy steps above, you can easily reach your goal - the slim, strong, healthy body of a naturally lean person who can enjoy their food without guilt, for life!

Losing weight is a lifelong commitment. It takes patience and self-discipline to stick with a weight loss program and wait for the end results. Many people want to find the magic shortcut that will make the process just a little shorter and less difficult. Many over-the-counter and prescription pills are purchased for just this purpose. They are available from pharmacies, natural health food stores, and even online. But are these weight loss pills the miracle drugs they claim to be? Or are they just a waste of money?
How Does A Weight Loss Pill Work?
Prescription weight loss pills work in one of three ways. Most of the pills on the market simply suppress the appetite and help you eat less. Others aim to increase your feeling of fullness after eating. Some of the newest weight loss pills on the market work by inhibiting the absorption of fat. Over the counter weight loss pills usually contain a stimulant that helps to decrease your appetite. The only complete weight management system which I approve of is the “Slimirex™” system.
Who Should Take Weight Loss Pills?
Weight loss pills are most often recommended for people who are medically obese…people whose weight is causing serious health concerns. Even with weight loss pills, the treatment of obesity involves exercise, counseling, dietary changes, and behavioral modifications. But weight loss pills are not only used by obese people. They are also sought after by people who want a quicker way to achieve the weight goals they have set for themselves. As long as men and women continue to compare themselves to the select few beautiful, skinny models on TV screens and magazine pages, there will be a strong market for weight loss pills.
Could Weight Loss Pills Be Dangerous?
Weight loss pills are a medication just like any other type of drug. You need to be very careful about the ingredients of any medication that you place in your body.
ALWAYS Consult Your Doctor
Work in consultation with your natural health care provider if you decide to try a over the counter weight loss pill to help you lose weight. Your doctor can assess your overall weight management goals and he or she can help you monitor the success or side effects of the medication. Be very cautious about the weight loss pill you decide to try. Try visiting www.weightlossobesity.com for general information and recommendations.
Know Your Source
Weight loss pills purchased over the internet may be coming from the garage of a t-shirt salesman (this actually happened!) If you decide to buy your weight loss pills online, make sure you research the company you are buying from so that you can be sure they send you the appropriate supplementation.
Read the Ingredients Some weight loss pills contain the ingredient ephedra (also known as ephedrine and ma huang.) This stimulant has recently come under a lot of scrutiny from the Food and Drug Administration for its links to illness and side effects. Ephedra has been shown to cause heart attacks, seizures and strokes. It is a powerful and dangerous stimulant that can damage the central nervous system and the heart. The most complete system available is the Slimirex system scheduled for release in April 2005.
Watch Out For Dependency
Weight loss pills that contain amphetamine or other stimulants may cause withdrawal symptoms when you decide to discontinue the medication. You may become addicted to these types of pills and be unable to stop taking them. The long term use of weight loss pills may increase your chances of developing serious side effects. Stimulant based weight loss pills can cause Adrenal Burnout Syndrome, which can take years to fix.
The Bottom Line On Weight Loss Pills
1. ALWAYS check with your health care provider. Make sure he or she knows which pill you are going to try and arrange for your progress to be monitored.
2. If your doctor prescribes a weight loss pill for you, make sure you follow the instructions he or she gives you. If you decide to purchase an over the counter weight loss pill, be sure to use Slimirex. DO NOT OVERDOSE to try and gain faster results.
3. Use weight loss pills (Slimirex) in combination with behavioral modifications, dietary changes, and an exercise program to ensure that if you do achieve weight loss results with the pill, you will be able to discontinue their use without hampering your progress.
4. Monitor yourself carefully while you take the weight loss pill. Record your progress as well as any side effects you may be feeling. And be sure to report both to your health care provider.
5. Unless your doctor advises you differently, plan to take the weight loss pill for a maximum of six to eight weeks. These products are not meant for long term usage and side effects can occur.
6. If you are not losing weight, stop taking the weight loss pills. Consult with your health care provider on any lifestyle or medication changes you can incorporate to achieve results.

Serious diet pills are intended for people who are overweight to the point of being considered obese. Therefore, they are known as anti-obesity drugs; and should not be used for quick, temporary weight loss.
Diet medications and supplements will not simply "melt" away all your unwanted fat and permanently solve any weight problem you might have. Most weight loss trials show that diet pills offer (at best) short term support.
You should use diet pills in combination with a simple plan for weight loss through regular exercise and an improved diet. Diet pills such as Phentermine provide appetite suppression, helping you focus energy on enjoying healthy foods rather than feeling starved of junk food.
Be careful of over the counter diet pills and other weight loss products. They are not regulated or controlled, and have been shown to contain ingredients that provide little or no benefits. Some have even been taken off the market because they pose a threat to your health.
Use caution with "herbal" and "natural" diet pills. These types of weight loss pills are not guaranteed to be more healthy or efficient just because they are made with supposedly natural ingredients. Many herbal ingredients of diet pills have been connected with many health problems such as heart failure.
Avoid diet pills advertised as "fat burning." Cardiovascular exercise is the best method for safely and directly increasing your metabolism; which will in turn naturally burn away fat!
Thinking about buying diet pills? You should always have a talk with your doctor before using any new medication. Discuss all your options for weight loss, and make sure to ask about all the known health risks and side effects.
When using any diet pill, you must follow the manufacturer's instructions, as well as your doctor's. This is for your own safety, as with any medication.
Don't continue using diet pills for longer than 4-6 weeks without permission from your doctor. You should also talk to your doctor about when to stop.
Potential Benefits of Diet Pills
When considering short term use, the benefits of weight loss may include improving overall health and lowering the number of health risks one faces when overweight. Clinical studies have shown that some diet pills decrease blood pressure & cholesterol, fats (triglycerides) and lower help your body use blood sugar more efficiently (lowering insulin resistance) with short term use. However, no studies have yet been performed, and they are necessary in determining whether weight loss with long term use of diet pills will improve overall health.

Have you been hanging around the buffet table for far too long? Do your jeans snap open when you do a simple twist? Have you ever had any part of your body jiggle when you walk? It is an incredibly frustrating situation when your body does not look (or even feel) the way you would like.
While some might opt to take the dangerous turn of acquiring eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia to hasten their weight loss progress, there is a safer and far more pleasant feeling method of achieving weight loss. Exercising at least 30 minutes a day may even be enough to do some significant positive change to your appearance and weight even in just a matter of one to two months. Couple this with the right kind of diet, but never deprive yourself food such that your body is legitimately hungry all the time.
Unfortunately there are people who would really like to lose weight but are either too lazy or impatient for them to make healthy lifestyle changes. It is important to note that while some doctors prescribe weight loss pills or diet pills to their patients, this doesn’t mean that just about anyone could buy them from any drug store or pharmacy and just pop them in their mouths.
1. Think Before You Act
Before buying diet pills, you must first go to a registered physician or a registered dietician for them to be able to assess your weight and your body mass index (BMI) among other health related information that concerns yourself. These doctors would really have to know your family’s medical history like if your family tends to lean towards the healthy side or are there any cases of cancer, high blood pressure or heart attacks in your family.
2. Risks Associated With Diet Pills
Hereditary illnesses are an incredibly important reference point for registered doctors and registered dieticians. They need to know this information so they can prescribe to you the correct pill. In addition, some people can have allergic reactions from weight loss pills or a multitude of side-effects.
A popular diet pill that has been around for quite some time called Xenical. This diet pill acts by draining the excess fat through constant bowel movements. This may be a little gross or inconvenient for some (especially those people who are always on the go) but with the proper diet and exercise this weight loss pill promises to help you shed off at least twenty pounds in just a matter of two months. People who have used this weight loss wonder have had nothing but praise for this drug. However, they testify that it was incredibly inconvenient, not to mention a foul smelling experience. Doctors are actually praising this drug for another reason, it also lowers the risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Other diet pills, however, are not as great for our bodies. The notorious Bangkok pill, which has been circulating all over the world, promises significant amounts of weight loss in just a mere 2 weeks. A lot of people fall prey to this unhealthy weight loss drug because it’s a lot faster than the other weight loss drugs and doesn’t require you to go the bathroom every now and then. There are three sets of pills that one must take everyday, these diet pills are labeled as breakfast, lunch and dinner (which contains several more packs of diet pills) and you have to take one or two from each of these packs and take these weight loss pills after every corresponding meal. The weight loss effect from these Bangkok pills are indeed drastic but they are banned and considered as illegal due to their extremely high chance of causing heart attack or stroke.

An Obese person does not look nice and smart.
More over doctors are continuously issuing warnings against over weight and obesity. So at present there is a craze for people to be slim. I am to say that once you have become overweight, whatever be the reason, it is not easy task to shed excess weight overnight.
First a determination should grow from yourself that you must lose weight. Positive thinking, say, doing good for the society will motivate you to shed weight as only if you are smart enough you can face the challenges of life and can serve the society and the nation.
On the contrary, Overweight will definitely make you sick and disease prone. So once you become the liability of the society, how can you serve and do well for society?
I will advise, don’t make haste. After your positive thinking and determination, you must visit a doctor. Get yourself checked thoroughly by the doctor. Try to follow his advice.
If your overweight is not genetic nor due to Thyroid disturbance, the problem is easier for the doctor. Because millions of people have been cured by this method.
I am talking about weight loss pills. It has become one of the best and effective solutions for overweight and obesity. You should remember that fasting was not at all a solution to overweight; you should take all the ingredients in sufficient quantities for maintenance of all the functions of the body.
However, your food intake quantity can be made less by these weight loss drugs. In fact, maximum overweight cases have been found due to excess eating. Your body absorbs all the nutrition from your food to make it running, but the excess quantity is accumulated as fat in your body making you overweight, if the process is continued of a prolonged period of time.
So, some kind of appetite suppressant is required to reduce your urge to take excess food. Phentermine group of oral Diet Pills help you in reducing the appetite so that you will not be interested to take excess food.
There are a number of varieties of Phentermine Diet Pills in the market. Among them, Adipex, Ionamine etc are popular and mostly recommended by doctors.
I have previously told that your weight loss program should start from doctor’s chamber. Don’t use Diet Pills without instructions from doctor. There are some restrictions to use diet pills and Diet Pills also have some side effects which should be precisely monitored by a doctor only.
For example doctors generally do not recommend to use the Phentermine Diet Pills for a person with problem of high blood pressure or Glaucoma, or the case where monoamine oxidase inhibitor have been taken in the last 14 days.
Also pregnant and lactating women should not take the Phentermine pills, as it may cause problem to the baby. Also the drug is not at all suitable for children. Child obesity is a separate problem for which diet pills may not be required. It is generally to watch and stop weight gaining in excess than normal as the child grows. We will discuss this separately in another occasion later.
However, if the diet pills are used as per doctor’s instructions, the drug is very much effective as a successful kick-starter for one’s weight loss program and can yield results in a few weeks.
Finally, if you want to retain the weight loss you have achieved through Phentermine, you should follow an extensive weight loss program, which will consist of controlled diet program along with regular required exercise supplemented by the diet pills.

Within the pharmaceutical industry, obesity is now seen as the "trillion dollar disease". That's the estimated amount of profit a successful weight loss drug can expect to make. But are companies getting close to delivering a diet pill that really works - meaning, a pill that is both safe and effective at solving obesity? The answer, it seems, is No.
Pills To Reduce Obesity
It's true that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a tiny number of weight loss pills like Xenical and Meridia for long term use in the treatment of obesity (BMI > 30). But evidence accumulated in clinical trials suggests that the effectiveness of these obesity drugs is less than impressive. Total annual weight reduction tends to be in the range 8-20 pounds. Furthermore, the highest weight loss tends to be achieved by patients who participate in supervised trials involving a combination of drug treatment, diet, exercise and counseling. Which makes it difficult to ascertain the precise effect of the medication itself. By comparison, less well supervised obesity drug trials tend to have a higher drop-out rate and reduced weight loss. And the longer the trial, the lower the compliance and the lower the weight loss. In short, while helpful to some patients, weight loss drugs are not yet the answer to obesity, especially when factors like cost are taken into account.
Should we be surprised? Not really. After all, even bariatric surgery is no guarantee of long term weight loss unless patients comply with the necessary post-operative dietary regimen. Indeed, some obesity experts claim that medical interventions like drugs and surgery are almost by definition doomed to failure, for the simple reason that they take control and responsibility away from patients. According to this view, it is only when patients accept full responsibility for their eating habits and lifestyle, that they have a real chance of achieving a normal weight in the long term.
Unfortunately, this view satisfies no one! It doesn't satisfy the pharmaceutical companies, who need to make money. It doesn't satisfy doctors, who need to give hope to their overweight patients, and it doesn't satisfy consumers who want instant weight loss without having to change their eating habits. In short, there is an overwhelming demand for an obesity pill, but a viable product has yet to emerge.
Pills For Cosmetic Weight Loss
Demand for diet pills is not limited to those suffering from clinical obesity. Millions of consumers with less than 40 pounds to lose take non-prescription pills to burn off body fat or increase their rate of weight loss. According to a study conducted by the University of Michigan, almost 25 percent of girl students turn to anorectic diet pills when they're trying to lose weight, including laxatives and diuretics.
These non-prescription pills are more difficult to evaluate, as they are not subject to the same high level of regulation as prescription-only drugs. Thus not all ingredients need to be tested, dosages and other labeling requirements are less stringent, and reporting of "adverse events" or health problems is not mandatory. Furthermore, few long term clinical trials are conducted on non-prescription pills, so hard evidence as to their safety and efficacy is scarce. Meantime, the huge profits to be made from these weight loss products means they can be supported by expensive advertising campaigns to increase consumer acceptance, making regulation and control even more of an uphill struggle. Indeed, the FDA has found it almost impossible to ban over-the-counter diet pills, even after reports of illness and injury.
Herbal Diet Pills For "Healthy Eating"
The past five years has seen a huge rise in sales of herbal diet pills, which are marketed as a form of "healthy eating". These herbal supplements typically include a variable combination of vitamins and other active ingredients which supposedly offer a healthier type of weight loss. Such claims are not generally supported by clinical evidence, and some suppliers are under investigation by both the FDA and FTC. Nevertheless, rising demand for these herbal weight loss pills is yet another confirmation of our huge appetite for what is essentially a non-dietary approach to weight control.
How Do Weight Loss Pills Work?
In simple terms, weight loss pills are designed either to alter body chemistry in order to reduce appetite, or to interfere with digestion in order to reduce calorie absorption. Appetite suppressants include amphetamine-like stimulants such as ephedra, or pills to increase serotonin or norepinephrine levels in the brain. Pills that interfere with the digestive system include fat-blockers (lipase inhibitors) like Xenical and chitosan, carb-blockers, and very high fiber bulking agents such as glucomannan.
Are Weight Loss Pills Safe?
Obesity drugs are generally safe when used correctly and under medical supervision. The trouble starts when users do not follow the manufacturer's instructions. Adverse health events for these pharmaceuticals include heart or blood pressure problems and strokes, as well a range of less serious complaints. The same applies to non-prescription diet pills, whose adverse health effects include high blood pressure, heart palpitations, irregular heartbeats, dizziness, blurred vision, headaches, insomnia, intestinal blockages, anxiety and depression. In extreme cases, both prescription-only and non-prescription pills can cause life-threatening conditions. Even so, safety remains a relative concept. Cigarettes, alcohol, cars and stress kill millions of people every year. By comparison with these things, diet pills cause far fewer "casualties", and if you consult your doctor before taking them, you can reduce the health risk to a minimum.
The Real Problem With Weight Loss Pills
The biggest problem about relying on drugs and supplements to lose weight is not health, it's reliability. In my 20-odd years of dealing with overweight individuals and their families, I have yet to hear of anyone who achieved and maintained any significant weight loss by using pills. But I have met a huge number of people whose weight and emotional state of mind had been significantly worsened through the use of pills. They were afraid of food, they had absolutely no confidence in their ability to make sensible food choices, and tended to rely on purging, laxatives and similar products to control their eating habits. One client - a former annual weight loss winner with one of the major dieting companies - had been fed deliberately with pills in order to achieve the weight reduction that the organization required. When she came to me for help, she had regained 70 pounds of her original weight loss. In short, relying on pills for weight control can mess up your body and your mind.
The Small Print Says It All
Advertisements and infomercials for diet pills are dominated by headlines like: "Effortless Weight Loss" or "Lose Weight While You Sleep!" and so on. But the small print often tells a different story - either that users should follow a calorie-controlled diet, or only eat at certain times of the day, or stop eating certain high-calorie foods, or some combination of all three. There may also be a reference to the need for exercise. In other words, if you want the truth about a weight loss pill, check the small print. Because, as all obesity experts and dietitians will tell you, no long term reduction in weight is possible without controlling energy intake and expenditure.
If You Must Take Pills
Whether you are a diet pill addict, or just an occasional user, here are two ways to make weight loss easier. Look for a healthy, gimmick-free diet, and follow it as carefully as you can. In the process, focus on healthy eating rather than calorie reduction. Aiming to eat healthily is much more positive than calorie control. Secondly, join an online dieting forum and get encouragement and advice from other people. Because all surveys show that losing weight is a lot easier when you have others to lean on. My own forum for instance includes a large number of former diet pill users who are now enjoying their food and losing significant amounts of weight in the process. Which proves that when it comes to weight control, people power is much more effective than popping pills.

Diet pills are a very alluring option for someone who has many failed diets under their belt. Moreover, commercials promoting weight loss pills always promise fast and easy weight loss. It is important to know that many diet pills and weight loss aids are counterfeit. Americans spend an obscene amount of money on weight loss products, especially weight loss pills. “According to Fat -- Exploding the myths, by Lisa Colles, Americans reportedly spend between $30 and 50 billion annually on diets, weight loss programs and products. A whopping $6 billion is spent on weight loss pills and products that are not genuine.
There are many different types of diet pills that can be broadly classified into the following types:
Prescription diet pills: These pills are primarily created for those suffering from debilitating obesity. Weight loss pills are not a mock solution for the problem, nor are they proposed as replacement for the conventional weight loss and management methods such as exercise and diet. When traditional weight loss techniques fail to produce the desired results, most people lose motivation and faith in the process. As a result they turn to quick fix answers like diet pills. The pills that are prescribed are only given for certain conditions and in certain dosages. Furthermore, their side effects have to be closely watched.
Over the counter weight loss pills: The weight loss industry is already cashing in on the average American’s insecurities surrounding body image and a certain definition of beauty based on how skinny you can be. This further fuels the diet industry’s success. They make diet drugs and call them food supplements and these so called "supplements" are largely unregulated. They are not subjected to stringent testing by federal authorities nor are labeling requirements enforced, as in the case of prescription weight loss pills. Moral of the story: if weight loss diet pills are your only recourse, better see a doctor before you take them rather than after.

10 Tips on Losing Weight Fast

Before jumping into a diet, you must determine your ideal weight. This will be your guide on your weight loss journey. “Fast” weight loss doesn’t imply that you drop 50 pounds overnight; a few pounds can take months to shed and for obese individuals, it can take years to lose the desired amount of weight. How fast you lose weight will depend on how focused you are on your diet.
Here are some simple steps to help you lose weight:
1. Before dieting, you must know how many calories you normally need in a day. If you are sedentary, multiply your weight (in pounds) by fifteen. If you are moderately active, multiply your weight by seventeen; if you are active, multiply your weight by twenty. This will give you the average calorie intake you need per day.
2. Remember to eat your fruits and veggies! You need at least five servings of them per day – doing this will put you on the right track to a healthy body, because fruits and vegetables have beneficial fibers, vitamins and antioxidants. They also fill up your stomach fast so that you don’t overeat and take into many calories.
3. Monitor the quantity of food you eat. Avoid high-calorie foods and eat in small portions. A helpful tip is to chew your food slowly because this makes digestion easy on your body and you will also be less likely to overeat.
4. Don’t skip meals. When you want to lose weight it may be tempting to starve yourself – but eating small amounts of food frequently can help you maintain a healthy, balanced calorie intake throughout the day. Also, your blood sugar level will be adversely affected if you don’t eat often. You can even divide the standard allotment of three meals into five or six smaller meals.
5. Fresh fruits and vegetables are ideal – packaged and processed foods have high sodium and fat content. You are more likely to lose weight if you eat naturally fresh foods.
6. Don’t limit your food intake too much. Go ahead and indulge yourself; eat your favorite treat. It’s okay to have that slice of birthday cake at the occasional party. Just make sure to eat in moderation and use those special desserts as rewards, instead of enemies, to your weight loss experience.
7. Don’t always believe everything you read on a food label. “Fat free” does not necessarily mean low calories. The same wisdom goes for foods that boast “low sugar” or “low carbs.” Glance over the nutrition label – there you’ll find the calorie count.
8. Try to limit the number of juices and sugary beverages you drink. Instead, drink eight glasses water a day – this flushes out your body’s toxins and waste.
9. If possible, keep a food journal. This will help you keep track of your calorie intake and will be a daily reminder of the types of foods you need.
10. Don’t forget to exercise! Thirty to sixty minutes of physical activity a day will ensure your health and help you lose weight (and not to mention, firm up those muscles). Weight-bearing exercises are especially great ways to burn those pesky calories.

Only in America could billions of dollars be made selling weight loss products to people who need to shed a few extra pounds. In a world full of starving people, Americans seem to have emerged as a nation of overfed, under exercised fatties who can’t put down that bag of potato chips, stop eating that ice cream or refuse that second (or third?) helping of pasta. America’s weight problem – historically solved by eating less and exercising more – had now proliferated a dizzying array of products. Celebrities, nutritionists, doctors, herbologists, hucksters and former fatties have come up with thousands of products designed to melt fat, reduce cravings for bad foods, block carbs, sugar and fat, lose pounds while you sleep, and more..
Many products claim that, as long as you take one of the pills, you can eat what you want and actually lose weight. There are diet plans, calorie counters, diet food cooked and delivered to your doorstep daily, dance and walk your way to weight loss, the hula weight loss program, the Brazilian weight loss program, the fat burning, belly reducing, balanced woman, unbalanced woman. You name it and it’s on a weight loss infomercial. In fact, weight loss programs (separate from fitness programs and equipment, which may result in weight loss but are sold as ways to improve your appearance) account for more than 50% of all revenue generated in today’s infomercials.
One of the most successful weight loss infomercials ever produced featured a product called Bio Slim. Created by Doctor Josh Leightberg, Bio Slim was a science-driven, medically sound program consisting of several herbal pills which when combined with a diet plan also created by Dr. Leightberg resulted in a changed metabolism, an improved digestive system and a stronger anti-immune system, all of which ultimately led to a steady, healthy weight loss. Following the success of Bio Slim, a steady stream of niche players, knockoff artists and entrepreneurs took to the airways with their twist, their hook, their product designed to produce quicker, easier results. One of them was the well known and extremely successful Fen-Phen diet, which was a combination of two herbs known to doctors and other professionals in the industry as herbal speed. While still legal at the time, the pills killed the appetite completely, created a euphoric state in the user and led to many problems including heart attacks which led the FDA to ban the main substances from use in the USA.
Weight loss infomercials are so powerful and so successful that you have to be careful which products you choose to use. As with anything else in life, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. There really is no magic pill or substance that is going to let you sit on the couch and eat huge quantities of bad foods and make you lose weight without paying some kind of terrible price. I mention Bio Slim as an example of a stellar product designed by a professional doctor whose goal was to improve people’s lives and make money. You could call a number given out to anybody who ordered Bio Slim and speak directly with Dr. Leightberg if you had questions or concerns about his product. That should tell you something about the man and the product he’s putting his name on.
Another thing to look out for in weight loss infomercials are the add-ons. Popular diets like the Atkins diet which were not sold on infomercials, but became successful through book sales, interviews and word of mouth led to the creation of a whole host of products you didn’t need that were designed to help you stay on or perform better while on the Atkins plan. Low carb foods and low/no carb candy imitations, sometimes ten times more expensive than their higher carb counterparts, flooded the airwaves. Pills designed to reduce the difficulties associated with the Atkins diet surfaced in infomercials. These items are usually designed by less than professional individuals looking to cash in on a craze they had nothing to do with in the first place.

The first thing you have to do in any weight loss program is know what your metabolic rate is. You need to know this in order to calculate how much you can take in and how much to reduce to lose weight.
Many people try to start a weight loss program with their basal metabolic rate (BMR), which is the amount of energy (calories) your body uses in a resting state, at the bottom. What you have to do is to increase your BMR so that you are burning more calories throughout the day, every day. It is quite simple actually, increase the amount of calories you burn, and you will increase the amount of fat you lose. The best way to increase your BMR is through adding muscle tissue. The more muscle mass you have the faster will your metabolism be. Women are sometimes afraid at the idea of adding muscle due to their fear of becoming “bulky.” Relax; it’s a little harder to add that kind of muscle mass than you think. I was in bodybuilding for years and used to crack me up how people thought if you just lifted weights a little you would get big muscles. That takes intense heavy specific workouts. Besides, a little muscle mass goes a long way toward achieving a leaner body. And this is what you want, right?
Not just any exercise program will do for weight loss. Just burning calories is not good enough. The program must be planned to draw out specific hormonal responses that are conducive to weight loss. The key is NOT hours and hours of cardio. You must do exercise at an intensity that raises your heart rate and keeps it there for at least twenty minutes at a time and go from there.
Consistency is the next important part of an effective weight loss program. This one pretty much speaks for itself. Have you ever accomplished anything great with an inconsistent effort? Unless failure is considered a great achievement, you probably haven’t. You must exercise consistently to get the results you want! It blows my mind how many people don’t even try to be consistent with their diet and exercise programs and complain about not seeing results. Even the best programs are ineffectual if they are not followed on a consistent basis.
A proper diet is the last and maybe most important of the basic elements I am covering in this article. You can’t expect to get a leaner body by continuing the typical unhealthy eating habits. I am not saying that you should drop everything in your diet immediately and exchange it for “healthy” food. This would simply be a quick fix that may only last a couple of weeks and then you revert back to your old habits within a month. Instead, practice moderation and don’t overindulge. A good rule of thumb is to not eat more than you can place in your hand at one sitting. Our culture with the garbage can lid plates that would feed four people doesn’t help! Also, work on phasing out certain unhealthy foods out of your diet while introducing healthier foods. This will make the transition smoother and a lot easier to maintain.

I’m not going to lie. Achieving your health and fitness goals is a lot of work. Even when people hire me as their personal trainer, it still requires some self discipline to eat healthy and do the extra cardiovascular required to see results. Some clients eventually fall to the wayside. To give you the best possible chance to stick with your weight loss program and succeed, I will give you some of the best tips I tell my clients to keep them on the right track.
1. Commit three months at the start of your exercise program: If you commit to this right from the beginning, it will help you not get distracted if you aren’t losing weight after the second or third week. It is going to take your body some time to adjust to your new lifestyle change and how fast it adapts depends on how disciplined you are to diet, if you are consistent to your exercise, and your body’s own personal reaction to change. After three months though, if you are doing everything that you need to do, you will see some change. You will get inspired and want to continue on to see even more results.
2. Make a long-term goal but focus on the short term goals: I truly believe that you can achieve any type of weight loss goal that you create, as long as you are committed to the program. You will never meet your long term goal in 30 days. That is why it is called a long term goal. Focus on the short term goals and they don’t have to be tangible changes. For example, yes you could say I want to lose 1-2 pounds this week, but also make a goal of hitting cardiovascular 5 times in a week or trying to eat 3 servings of fruit for the day. If you make realistic short term goals, you can see little victories easier and over the long hall, become the big victory that you are striving for.
3. Get the support of your family and friends: All too often, I meet with a client who wants to lose weight, but her spouse or children ridicule him/her or discourage the attempts. As someone who understands how you will feel by losing the weight, you need to have a heart to heart with your family and friends and explain why this is important to you. Whether it be for your own health or just to make you feel more self-confident, you need to convey this to them. If they truly care about you, they will help you out in everyway possible. It is always better to have help, especially when trying to achieve a goal that for the longest time you have deemed insurmountable.
4. Join a support group: If your family and friends can’t be of help to you, look for fitness support groups out there that will. The Health Rejuvenation program that my company offers has several support groups. We provide a bi-weekly meeting place for local participants, a teleconference call, and a Yahoo! Group for out of town participants. If you are in a group with people who are trying to achieve the same results, this is a wonderful way to remain accountable. Motivation and support permeates throughout the group, to help each other out.
5. Keep a log of your workouts and eating: This will keep you more accountable by seeing what you are doing. You might be less likely to skip a workout or have a poor quality workout, if you can see what weights you worked with last time. Also, you will be less likely to put that doughnut in your mouth, if you know you have to write it down. You can correct the errors in your diet and workout and keep you on the right track for success.
6. Hire a personal trainer: Yeah, I might be tooting my horn here, but my clients tell me that if they have to pay money for something, then they are going to try and stick with it. A personal trainer will put you on the right exercise program and nutrition plan that will best help you achieve your results. All you have to do is follow their instructions. To find out some quick tips on losing weight, you can email losing_weight_now@getresponse.com.
I hope that these tips help you out. I know it sounds simple for me to say, but you have to be patient. You didn’t get in your current shape overnight, so don’t expect to change overnight. If you follow the guidelines that I suggest, you will be well on your way to achieving that lifestyle change you so desire.

Slim Fast is the most common diet shake available on the market today. Its plan allows for a shake at breakfast, lunch, and then a normal dinner. It also allows two pieces of fruit and a Slim Fast bar as a snack. According to nutrition experts, the Slim Fast plan does have healthy aspects. It is an easy plan to follow and promotes healthy exercise and drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
Slim Fast centers its weight loss program on products made by their own company. Traditional shakes and nutrition bars are what the diet mostly consists of, making it obvious that the one meal you eat for dinner must consist of nutritious and wholesome foods since your shakes only add vitamins and minerals. The goal for dieters on Slim Fast is to stay away from high-fat, calorie dense foods, and eat a diet that is high in fiber and vitamins instead.
The problem with the Slim Fast plan is that the caloric limit is set so low that it can be bad for any long-term goal of weight loss. Each shake only contains around 250 calories, add in the shakes and regular meal, and you are likely to be only consuming 1,300 calories a day. It seems reasonable that reducing calories is the key to weight loss, but when you reduce too many, you are experiencing one of Slim Fast`s biggest problems!
The only good thing that Slim Fast had ever done was that it introduced meal replacement shakes to the consumer. Slim Fast may have been good when it first same out, but with today`s diet choices, there are much better diet programs available. I simply do not recommend the Slim Fast dieting program if you are looking for long-term weight loss results. With that being said, I still feel that Slim Fast shakes and nutritional bars are a good complement to one`s diet. If Slim Fast would change their "2 shakes a day" plan to one shake a day, I would reconsider my opinion of them. But until they change it, I`m going to stay away from it.

Walking For Weight Loss

It is generally well accepted that exercise burns calories and can increase the overall health of body and mind. Most of us also recognize that walking is one of the simplest and most effective exercises for weight loss and health. What many people don't realize is that they might not be getting the most effective returns on their efforts. It actually requires just a little tweaking of a simple walking program to make it more effective as a weight loss program.
Many experts will recommend a minimum of 30 minutes of sustained physical activity every day for health. However, 30 minutes of walking a day, while it may initially cause some welcome and valuable weight loss for an overweight individual, the weight loss results will probably not be sustained as the body makes adjustments and learns to accept the new demands made on it.
Rest assured, walking (or participating in other activities) for a sustained 30 minutes a day WILL result in better health, a greater level of energy and well-being, as well as producing SOME weight loss. However, anyone seriously overweight will probably not create the sustained, permanent weight loss they seek with only 30 minutes a day.
Because of the manner in which the body draws on fat stores vs. other stored energy sources, the first, and most valuable step, will be to increase the amount of time the activity is performed. Forty-five minutes is better than 30, and 60 is better than 45 minutes.
Admittedly, walking an hour a day, six or seven times a week may be difficult for some to fit into their schedules. However, simply increasing the time to 45 or 60 minutes of activity two or three times a week will produce more weight loss than keeping all walks at 30 minutes.
Another technique is to increase the speed with which you walk on the days that you do not walk more than 30 minutes. This also has the benefit of conditioning the body in a slightly different manner than the slower paced, longer walks. Remember, no walk should introduce extreme difficulty in breathing. A rule of thumb is that if you cannot talk and walk, you are attempting to either go too fast or too far. Always build up slowly to new levels of exertion.
You may also want to consider adding resistance training, such as with free weights, or equipment such as a Bowflex or Total Gym, or similar exercise apparatus. This builds muscle tissue which will burn more calories even in a resting state. Additionally, walking exercises only certain muscles and muscle groups. A resistance training program can be used to train muscle groups generally not included in walking.
Although the extended 45 and 60 minute walks will be somewhat more effective if done at one time, two 30 minute walks in a day will be more beneficial for fitness and weight loss than only one.
I would like to take a moment to address walking vs. running as a weight loss program.
Certainly, if you train to the point where you can run certain distances in certain times, you will almost certainly experience a major weight loss if that is what your body needs. However, you can get just as fit as a runner by walking with a great deal less danger of injury. A beginning walker in particular is more likely to experience less discomfort during and after an exercise period than a beginning runner. Once you have build muscles and stamina, you may wish to move into a running program. Also, in the beginning of any exercise program, whether for weight loss or physical fitness, extreme demands on the body and one's physical, mental, and motivational resources may result in the program being dropped. It is generally easier to slip into a permanent walking program from a sedentary lifestyle than a running program.
One last argument for at least beginning with a walking program is that you can sneak into a walking program without any special equipment or preparation, and no one but you needs to know that the shopping trip to the mall was actually your secret walk for the day.
There's an old saying that the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step...so does a successful weight loss program.

Are You Jolting Up Your Weight Loss Program?

Did you know that around 40% of the times it is you who blow up your weight loss program? Don’t you believe it? It surely will sound incredible since you believe that you are taking utmost efforts to reduce weight and lose excess fat. But there are many things we do knowingly that deter us from our desired goal. In the following section we have named 10 common ways by which we ourselves destroy our weight loss campaign (check out where you went wrong). We have also given what needs to be done on these counts.
• Follow a strict dieting schedule:A strict dieting schedule where individual promises to eat only a particular food group/groups is particularly difficult to stick to. So do not cut out entire food groups or decide intake of only one type of food.
• Emotional eating The more depressed you are, the more you eat. Are you one such type of person? The disorder you are suffering from is known as emotional eating. Deal with the disorder professionally or else you would continue adding more weight to your body. Also trying to engage in alternative activities will help deflect attention.
• Going it alone: Dieting is an onerous process, with the individual having to undergo many a rough patches during the period. Unless he has someone to discuss with and support him in his venture, he is susceptible to dither away from his goal, i.e. reduce weight. So have a good support system to ensure that there is someone to counsel you every time.
• Excessive fasting: It has always been a misconception associated with weight loss- stop eating and you will lose weight. Fasting, unless for a smaller span of time such as 24 hours is no solution to weight. Instead one begins to lose fewer calories as fasting period extends. Human body is programmed to react in such situation by slowing down the metabolism as it perceives the situation as famine.
• Skip the breakfast This is an extension of the myth discussed in the earlier paragraph. Skip breakfast and you consume lesser calories; so more weight loss. Is it true? No! At supper you eat more voraciously. So, no skipping of breakfast. Breakfast is an important meal of the day and gets metabolism going.
• Keep a food diary: A food diary is like a common budget. How much are you eating and how many calories do this produce is written on one side. On the other side is the standard written about the amount and food and calories that a normal healthy person is required. This will help get a real grasp of how one is faring in his weight loss program.
• Set realistic goals: The goals set by the dieter must be realistic. Unrealistic goals like cutting all soda from the present consumption of 2 liters a day is unachievable. They will largely affect the dieters’ motivations to continue with dieting.
• Weight in every day: Some dieters are so very excited and impatient with their dieting program that they will weigh themselves everyday. Does weight loss program or dieting produce such instant results? No! Moreover, the changes in the person may not always be quantifiable. This is incorrect since it lowers the motivation.
• Exercise regularly but within limits: Exercise regularly everyday. But do not overdo the exercise. This will not produce muscles in a day. Nevertheless, there are risks of overuse injuries.
• Strictly deny your favorite dishes: You resolve to cut the consumption of your favorite dish. But your heart fails to forget it. Will you be able to stick to your resolution? No, there will enough frustration. Instead cutting the quantum of the dish gradually will help.
Rome was not built in a day. The same applies to your body. The changes will be perceived and visible with time, not overnight. So patience is the final answer.

Are Weight Loss Supplements Worth It?

What do you think of the hundreds of weight loss supplements out there on the shelves today? Are they worth the money? Will they actually help you lose weight? How do you know which ones are going to work for you? Is there any proof that these products work?
I've taken some time and researched some of the most popular product to try to find the answers for you. The truth is, most products won't help you lose anything but money. There are a few, however, with some research behind them that prove that they actually work.
What are these supplements that work? It seems that only four products hold the best promise for those of us who want to slim down. They are Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), Hydroxycitic Acid (HCA), phaseolomine, and possibly 5-HTP.
1. Conjugated Linoleic Acid, CLA, has a number of research studies behind it. It is a fatty acid that has been found to reduce cancer risks, body fat and to increase lean muscle tissue. The Journal of Nutrition reported a Scandanavian Research team found CLA to increase the lean body mass of humans and also to decrease the fat mass. Subjects also had lower blodd fat and cholestrol after taking CLA. CLA does occur naturally in meat and dairy products, but the levels are pretty low. Also, if you're following a healthy low-fat diet, you tend to not get as much meat and dairy, so supplementation may be the answer for getting a healthy dose of CLA.
2. Hydroxycitic Acid, HCA, is derived from a fruit, Garcinia cambogia or Malabar tamarind. It seems to work by inhibiting an enzyme that converts carbohydrates to fat. It also seems to suppress the appetite. Studies on humans have had mixed results with one study showing significant weight loss in participants. Another study using a high fiber diet, showed HCA had no effect on weight loss. Critics think the high fiber diet prevented absorbtion of the HCA. So, if you're on a high fiber diet, HCA may not be for you.
3. Phaseolomine is derived from the white kidney bean. It works by reducing your body's absorbtion of starchy carbohydrates. Since you absorb fewer calories, you lose weight. Seems like this supplement would be great to take if you knew you were going to indulge. Research has also shown that you burn more fat while taking phaseolomine. Subjects in one study lost 10% of their body fat in 30 days. Phaseolomine is typically found in carb blocker products.
4. 5HTP works by increasing the level of Serotonin in the brain resulting in more stable emotions, better sleep and weight loss. I take 5HTP myself and have found it to be an excellent appetite suppresant as well as a mild mood booster. In one study where women were given either a placebo or 5HTP and a 1200 calorie diet, those who took the placebo lost 2.28 pounds and those who took 5HTP lost 10.34 pounds. This was accomplished in 6 weeks. Are there other supplements that work? There may be others that will stand the test of time and research, but for now these are the best non-prescription supplements I've found to enhance your weight loss efforts. Good luck losing the weight you want to lose!

Can You Still Buy Ephedra

With millions of people aiming for successful weight loss, many are still interested in diet pills and want to buy ephedra. Perhaps you are wondering...can I still buy ephedra?
The answer is yes, you can still buy ephedra. Not all countries have placed bans on allowing people to buy ephedra. These countries may believe that ephedra is still useful for weight loss or other condition. Some countries, such as the United States, allow you buy ephedra as long as the active amount is limited to less than 10mg of pure ephedrine. In fact, the only place to order the pure form ephedra is though Ephedra Energy at www.EphedraEnergy.com
People on weight loss programs still want to buy ephedra because it reduces appetite and stimulates fat metabolism, making it one of the most effective weight loss supplement in existence. Perhaps you want to buy ephedra because it increases the metabolic rate so that your body burns fats and sugars more efficiently.
Do not buy ephedra if you are expecting a miracle cure by itself. For true weight loss success, don’t discount consuming natural foods with a high nutrient to calorie ratio and increasing your daily physical activity. With a balanced diet, exercise and ephedra as a supplement, not many people have reported lack of results. Ephedra is powerful enough to help you lose weight quickly, however, you cannot take ephedra forever. Once your optimal weight is achieved, the habit of a good diet and exercise are critical in maintaining that optimal weight level.
There are some non-Ephedra pills you can try out free of charge as well. One I would recommend is www.NightDietPlus.com which can be taken before you go to bed and will not keep you up. It contains no caffeine or stimulants. I’ve actually tried them both. The NightDiet Plus is more subtle and the Ephedra is, quite powerful.

Oh, my the dreaded Holiday Season has come and gone and all you have to show forth is extra pounds. Sure the parties were fun, the family gatherings were unforgettable and gift giving made you feel great. There is only one left over problem to take care of. Too much eating led you to weigh too much. Here are some fast weight loss tips and some of the best supplements to help you burn the fat.
Fast weight loss tips begin with your eating habits. Many foods eaten over the holidays contained large amounts of fat and sugar. Two deadly sins to your body. It's time to cut them both out, or atleast cut way back. It was so nice for others to make all that food and set it out so you could feast, but the holidays are over and you need to get back in those pants again. Fat and sugars are stored in your body until burned away and let's face it, who's been exercising. Cut back on the amount of fat and sugar products and you'll almost instantly lose weight.
Another fast weight loss tip is to lower your carbohydrate intake. We all have heard of the low-carb diet, but it is quickly losing the interest of Amercians because we get bored fast. Lowering carbs does work though! By doing so you will cause your body to burn more fat for energy by reducing what you have stored up over the passed few weeks. Lowering carbs, cutting back on fats and elimnating too much sugar will dramatically lower your weight fast. You will have turned your body into a fat burning furnace and the pounds will come off.
Now let's get to some of the best weight loss supplements used to increase the amount of weight lost and speed up the process. Some of the hottest supplements are ephedra free thermogenics like Stacker, or Hydroxycut. The new ephedra free formula is free from harmful side effects and will tell your body to turn up the fat burning temperature gauge to shed pounds quick. Other great supplements are CLA, Pyruvate and weight loss shakes. That's right a shake. Try taking in a weight loss shake instead of apple pie and you'll feel full and won't crave sweets.
The most important ingredient in any diet program is water. Water is the most abundant product in your body and it is needed for every function of the body. Taking in 8-10 eight ounce glasses of water will do wonders. It gets rid of waste, makes sure all your organs operate at peak performance and will help keep you from getting a lot of illnesses. Just by adding more water to your diet.
Here's the last and the worst weight loss tip-Exercise. Yes, it's true. You must get some exercise, but it doesn't have to be hours a day all week long. Just get up and do something to get your heart and blood pumping atleast for a little while. 30 minutes a day at 4 days a week is recommended. Whether it's walking, jogging, or just playing around with the kids-Get Up and Get Moving!
There are many other fast weight loss tips and supplements, however, these few ideas will take off the extra pounds in a very short amount of time. To measure progress only get on the scale once a week because your weight can change daily. You can expect to see result within a week.
Some fast weight loss tips and supplements recap:Lower your fat intakeKeep sugars to a minimumTake ephedra free supplements, CLA, Pyruvate, or weight loss shakesUp your water intakeMost importantly-Get Moving!

It really chaps my hide whenever I see those commercials on TV with a woman MD-wanna-be hawking the latest diet pill. These “play-doctors” are usually wearing white lab coats, like they’re on the way to perform surgery and just thought they’d take time out of their busy schedule to tell you about this “latest medical breakthrough”. Don’t be fooled….the idea is to make it appear as if this woman (or man, I’ve seen them, too) is an actual doctor telling you about this latest prescription medicine to solve your weight problem. They even have the nerve to sell it to you in a bottle that looks just like one of your prescriptions you get from the pharmacy.
With obesity and all its related health problems becoming more and more common in the general population, people are becoming desperate to try a “magic pill” that will help them lose weight. As a result, there is a lot of potential harm you can do to yourself if you don’t choose your weight loss supplements wisely.
While many health and fitness experts will tell you flat out not to ever use any supplements…ever…research has shown that some can be used with success under the right conditions.
The first thing to consider is whether you are in fairly good health to try one of these weight loss herbal supplements. Are you under a doctor’s care for high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, depression or any other serious health problem? Taking any herbal supplements can be very dangerous. Consult your doctor and get your other health problems under control before using any weight loss supplements.
Second, do your research on who is manufacturing the products. Are doctors involved in the process? What are their credentials? If you see that a doctor (or group of doctors) has been involved in the design and production of an herbal remedy for a health problem, you have to understand that their professional reputation is on the line. Most doctors have spent decades in medical schools and in clinical environments, practicing medicine. No one who has invested that much time and energy on their medical career is going to sacrifice their reputation for something they are not absolutely sure is going to work.
Third, read the label and research, research, research the ingredients. FDA guidelines for herbal supplements do not require standardized amounts. In some cases, you only need a trace amount of the herb in order to put the name on the label so look for the standardized claim on the bottle. That means the same amount is in every bottle. That can also give you a clue as to whether the price is right on a certain herbal compound. If it’s really cheap…or free… there’s usually a reason why…most likely, it’s because there’s very little of the active ingredient in the pill.
Also, look for the word “chelated” and “amino-acid-bound” which means that the minerals are absorbed by your body better and more effective than the simple forms manufactured by other vitamin-mineral products.
It wouldn't be wise to take a trip to the health food store and get the purest form of the latest herbal supplement, either. Most supplements that have power to help you lose weight need to be blended with other herbs and minerals to be optimally effective for weight loss.
Finally, you must realize that there is no such thing as a “magic weight loss pill”. You must follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly in order for quality weight loss supplements to work. The healthiest weight loss supplements will enhance your weight loss efforts by increasing your metabolism and suppressing your appetite while you eat those good healthy veggies and take that 30 minute walk everyday. The definition of supplement is "to increase, extend or improve something by adding something to it" and that's what the best weight loss supplements are meant to do; supplement a healthy lifestyle.

It seems like there are a variety of diet pills on the market today, but in reality many of these pills have similar ingredients with one or two changes. The medical community has chosen to categorize diet pills as simply prescription pills and nonprescription pills. Non prescription pills are over-the-counter and usually contain herbal supplements to help suppress the appetite, increase the metabolism or keep the body from absorbing carbs and starches amongst other qualities.
In general it's thought that nonprescription pills are less effective than prescription pills but that may simply be because there are far fewer clinical studies performed on weight loss supplements than on prescription pills created by large drug companies. It is important to review each and every ingredient in the diet pills you purchase because some of them may simply be 'snake oil' as they say.
Some ingredients that are typically shown or suggested to have an effectiveness are Guaruana extract; also called guaranine (a form of caffeine) Gotu Kola Nut which also contains caffeine, Bitter orange which stimulates the body's metabolism, Ma Huang contains ephedrine which also stimulates the metabolism and Hoodia Gordinii. Hoodia Gordinii is a cactus found in South Africa and is showing a lot of potential as an appetite suppressant. Early trials suggest is can reduce the appetite by as much as fifty percent. A couple of large drug companies are trying to synthesize the chemical in Gordinii to create a copyrighted prescription form of this supplement.
There are other herbal supplements used in diet pills for their effectiveness, but again it is best to look up each listed and make sure there aren't any warnings associated with it. The FDA doesn't currently regulate the making and selling of dietary supplements so it's easy for a slick marketer to set up a company.

These days there is plenty of controversy and debate over whether it is beneficial to take various supplements. There are many kinds of supplements out there all with different intentions. There are food or meal supplements, weight loss supplements, strength enhancing supplements, and performance enhancing supplements, just to name a few.
While I do believe that certain supplements can provide some benefits for weight loss and increased fitness, taking the wrong ones or taking too high a dose can create some unwanted serious side effects. If you are either currently taking any supplements or are considering taking any then follow these tips to ensure they will not do you more harm than good.
For starters, get a physical checkup from your doctor. Talk to the doctor about what supplements you are taking or are looking to take and explain what you want to take them for whether it is for weight loss or to increase your strength for fitness. Your doctor can make sure that you have no conditions that would be adversely affected by them and may also have other recommendations as well.
Do your homework and learn as much as you can about the supplements you want to take. Many weight loss supplements for instance are only a meal replacement with a very high cost. You can start by using the internet to do searches on them. Here you can get plenty of information on them. You can also ask the local pharmacist, a qualified fitness trainer, or a qualified nutritionist about them for an even more in depth look at them.
Stay away from supplements that do not list all the ingredients or are a new, unusual, or unknown type. Stick with supplements that have a good brand name, use pharmaceutical grade ingredients, and make no lofty claims as to what their supplements will do for you like rapid weight loss for example.
When you do find a suitable supplement to take, never exceed the recommended dosage for any reason. No matter how good a supplement is, more is definitely not better. There is a very good reason why the manufacturer listed the dosage they did. Increasing that dosage with the belief that it will increase the effects of the supplement is the main reason people get sick or injured from using them.
If at any time you develop any side effects from the supplements you are taking, stop taking them immediately! The weight loss, strength, or general fitness boost you are trying to get from them is not worth compromising your health for. You may even want to consult with your doctor in case treatment is needed to ensure against further incident from the effects you may be having.
Many people take many different supplements every day for various reasons and some people do report positive results from them. There are supplements out there that are beneficial to take to help you with your weight loss and fitness goals, but just remember that there are a lot of bad ones too. If you are considering taking any supplements, follow these guidelines and more important, follow good common sense.

You may have heard the talk around the place about the new weight loss supplement Lipitrex.
You will notice that I used the word lipitrex supplement instead of pill. I will explain in this article specifically what I mean by this and try to inform you of what you need to know about how these two types of diet products can work for and against you in your quest towards weight loss.
Firstly, there are diet pills and diet supplements.
Diet pills (of which Lipitrex is not one) are chemically based and have generally been formulated in a laboratory with the use of chemical substances. As a result of their non natural basis, they are generally more inclined to cause side effects and tend only to be available via prescription. While it is true that they can have solid effects in terms of weight loss, they require for the users body be compatible with the various chemicals in order to avoid the side effects.
A weight loss supplement like Lipitrex however is a NATURAL product. It is the combination of various natural ingredients that have been discovered to have been being used for decades to cause the loss of weight and the improvement of general health in other areas also.
The main benefits of a natural product like Lipitrex are:
Available more easily: It will never require a prescription to purchase natural weight loss supplements like lipitrex. They are available over the counter or today over the internet.
They have less side effects: Natural ingredients mean less chance of your body developing an adverse reaction. Also because the ingredients are natural it makes them more easy for the body to assimilate into its system, in many cases leading to faster, more long lasting results from Lipitrex usage.
Price: As you probably already know, prescription drugs can be very pricey! Ranging anywhere up to many hundreds of dollars for a single months dosage. Natural products like Lipitrex however come more cheaply and conveniently and moreover, unlike prescription medication they are usually offered with a money back guarantee to offset the risk associated with the purchase of any weight loss product.
For these reasons and more, and if you have done your research, Lipitrex can be a great way for you to quickly and lastingly shed those unwanted pounds.
